I was thinking about the new work day and the amount of time we have been spending on Zoom, Go To Meeting, and Google Meet.
I just couldn’t figure out what this kind of exhaustion feels like??!!!
It reminded me of something I have experienced before, but I just couldn’t figure it out.
You know what I mean..
Doesn’t feel like the fatigue we feel after we work long and hard and feel accomplished.
No that’s not it.
Doesn’t feel like the fatigue we feel after we work out at our gym and break a mean sweat. No that’s not it either.
Its not an active, accomplished feeling at all.
Its a passive exhaustion that fogs the brain and kills the spirit.
Its that feeling you get after sitting in a car for 12 hours on a long distance road trip or a day of air travel where you were delayed, missed your connection and had little good nourishment to feed your body, and even less collaborative intellectual energy to feed your soul.
Zoom Fatigue. Virtual Zombies!
Just pure exhaustion with little experiential human value!!
That’s the “new work day”?
Every person requires moments of purpose, meaning and connection.
We require our day to feel active, collaborative, immersive in the feelings we experience by the challenge of reciprocal exchange.
We cannot allow our moment to sit idol while our day goes by.
The “new work day” may be new.
But our human needs need to feel relevant remains as old as human experience itself.
Just because the the circumstances in the world have changed…
Doesn’t mean we have to settle for less…

Images which have captured a part of our consciousness. From the first radio broadcast featuring voices from the Metropolitan Opera, communication and our experiences within it […]

Today’s workday feels different than ever before. Somehow, in our current Covid environment, we feel as if less is more. “Getting by” and “Getting Thru” seems good enough. Its almost as if we are waiting for things to get back to normal so we can “Be” what we used to be. Our day may have […]
